Favorite Things Friday (Sunday..oops)

One of my favorite things in life is watching kids get crafty.  I love how they are into creating art and have no worries or concerns about it being perfect.  Well at least most of them are that way.. I guess it depends on their age.  My 9-year-old had a big school project to do and it involved getting crafty, we were excited about that part of it.. the other part… was writing an essay with a bibliography, that was the not so exciting part.    My daughter did her essay on the new Miss America since she was from our hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The assignment was to create a memory box about your famous person from Kenosha and write an essay.  Well since we actually met with Miss American and had tons of pictures we made a scrapbook too.  Here is the memory box she did and some of the layouts from her 8×8 album.

We have more pages in the book regarding the interview and event we went to.  Once she gets her book back she still has photos and other pages to add to the book.  Both her and her sister took pictures and have autographs of the other contestants.

Echo Park & October Afternoon “boy” layouts

Are you ready for some Baseball?  Now that it is warm out, I see the boys in my neighborhood riding bikes, skateboards, and of course playing some ball.   I have 2 little girls so I am typically scrapping layouts of girly things.  So I was excited to get some new photos from my friends who have boys.

Here are two of my latest layouts that will be kitted and sold only at Hannah’s.  Stop in and pick up your kit or call to reserve your kit.  The baseball layout is using the New Echo Park This & That.  I also used the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitching tools and stitched a design around the page.  Super easy to do and just adds a tiny bit of detail to any layout.  Notice the 4 pennants on the page? Those are homemade.. just use the This & That paper that you will get in your kit.   I have had a request for some layouts with more than a couple of photos on a page.. here you go.. I used 12 photos.

Here is another new layout I designed for Hannah’s,  using the October Afternoon paper.    Hannah’s Home Accents  is located in Antioch Illinois.  I love this store, not because I am on their design team, but because I love the Home Decor, Holiday Decor, and the HUGE scrapbooking departments they have.

Don’t worry if you have girls Hannah’s has tons of layouts for boy or girl layouts.  They also have mini albums, card kits, and altered projects.   Thanks for looking at my new layouts, stop by Hannah’s Face book page and let us know what kind of kits you are looking for.  Scrap It Girl!~

~Goodbye to Google Friend Connect~

Right when I think I am just about done with my new website another change is coming.  For the 289 google friend connects I currently have, you will all have to find a new way to stay connected with my site.  As of March 1st my google friend connect will be removed from my site from Google/Blogger.  Here is the info they provided:

Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code.

Quote:  We’re retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.

Since my blog is hosted on WordPress, that means that if you follow my blog updates through Google Friend Connect you will no longer be able to do so.    I do have several other ways for you to subscribe, so please take a moment and update your feed subscription choice.

If you are on Facebook, you can follow me through my Scrap It Girl Page  or through my  Networked Blogs.    You can also sign up through my Feedburner.   Feedburner gives you several different options to get updates through different reader services or to your email.

You can also subscribe by email by simply entering your email address in the box on the right sidebar.

Hopefully all of my Google Friend Connect friends will choose one of the other subscription options to keep up with me.  I would hate to lose any of you!

My web guy Stephen found out all of this information about 2 weeks ago when I had asked him to add my google connects to my site.  He took it from my old blogger site and told me Google would be removing it from my site  soon.. thanks for the heads up.   Then a few days ago Tammy Tutterow posted about this same thing on her blog.  I asked her permission to pretty much copy her info.. thanks Tammy.  If you are not following Tammy you should be… she is a big fan of  Tim too~ but at a whole other level.. she is crazy good~

My Favorite Thing

Happy Friday!  Every Friday I will be sharing one of my favorite things.  It will be either something from my scrap it girl studio or something I made.  Today I am sharing one of my favorite storage items.  I bought this wonderful old crate from my friend Janet’s store,  A Piece of Mine Resale shoppe   It is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin.   I am sure this won’t be the last thing I share something  from her store since most of my craft room has come from her store.

My Favorite Thing on Friday:  This old 7-up crate.   It perfectly holds some much-needed supplies for crafting.  I keep it near my desk, yet it is still light enough to move it anywhere.   Right now I have it holding rulers, scissors, adhesive guns, my wet glues, tags, TH tape/guns, journaling pens, letters, numbers, & a few misc. items.
