Scrap It Girl has the Chicagoland Scrapbooker Magazine in her Kenosha, WI Store

Chicagoland Scrapbooker staff member Betsy Burnett is involved in a group called Shoebox 1k. This group helps to pack shoebox gifts filled with; school supplies, personal hygiene items, toys, a stuffed animal, hard candy and more. These boxes are then sent to needy children all over the world  along with the good news of God’s love, through an organization called Operation Christmas Child. Last year Betsy and her group packed over 1200 shoeboxes that were then distributed to Uganda, Madagascar, and the Philippines.

At the Scrapbook Expo in addition to running the baggage check area, Shoebox 1k also holds “basket raffles.” Manufacturers and businesses  have donated over $1000 in prizes to be given away. Tickets can be purchased for $1 each or buy 10 get 2 free and are available at the Baggage Check booth at the Scrapbook Expo that weekend. All money raised goes to help purchase items for the shoeboxes and cover delivery costs.

Chicagoland Scrapbooker Magazine is excited to once again sponsor Betsy with this event and has donated a gift basket to be raffled off. In addition to that gift basket you will find baskets from these wonderful sponsors:  Archival Inn, Cafe’ Crop, Close to My Heart Consultant Lori Brown, Craftwell, Creative Memories Consultant RuthAnn Lewckyj, Creative Options, Genuinely Jane Studios, Hydrangea Hippo, JoAnn’s Creations, Linnie Blooms, Pampered Chef Consultant Shirley Van De Wedge, Peddler’s Den, Robin’s Nest, Scrap Addict for Life, Scrap It Girl, Tim Holtz, Wild Tree Organic Consultant Dot Alcorn, Xyron, and MORE!

What do you have to do to win?   Leave me a comment letting me know what you look forward to most while attending Scrapbook Expo.  If you haven’t been there yet.. why do you want to go?  Two winners will be selected at random to win a pair of tickets for free admission to the Scrapbook Expo.

Wood, Ice Skate, & A Give A Way~

Who likes to Ice Skate?  I have only done it a few times in my life.  I like the idea of ice skating…I just don’t like to be cold,  and yes I live in Wisconsin.    I can’t believe how many people I meet that have kids that either play hockey or are ice skating regularly.  It’s pretty popular here.  So I was excited to see that Genuinely Jane Studios had an Ice Skate shaped book.

I decided to cover this wood ice skate book with the Ice Skating/Twizzle paper by Moxxie.   I added some stickles to the blade on the front cover for some texture and to look like ice.  I also added  an original ice skate lace to the book, thanks Melanie~  Who ever gets the book just needs to add a few photos and it’s done~  What would you do with an ice skate shaped book?  Leave me a comment and one lucky person will win this weeks giveaway.  The winner of last weeks give away is Mari.  Please contact me so I can get you the prize.

Please check out Genuinely Jane Studios website to see more of their awesome wood shaped books along with a full on line store of other crafty goodies.

Garbage Picker & A Give-A-Way Part 2

So last week while visiting my sister-in-law,  I noticed her neighbors were moving out.  Which always means good news for those of us that like to pick through someone else’s garbage.  Did you know the best time to score some great finds is on the last day of the month?  Yep.. those last-minute movers who need to be out on the first of the month love to throw things away.  Perfect day to do a few drive byes.  When a for sale sign goes in a yard.. I keep my eye open for big pieces, they are usually have to do a major cleaning.    I have found many things for my craft room by garbage picking.

My New Organizer, From A Vintage Vault in Kenosha.

I really wish I took a before and after picture of this frame.. but it was ugly and had a black and white family photo in it.  I guess they didn’t want to take the family picture with them.  This now beautiful frame hangs in my craft room.  It’s actually really big and heavy.  Nice score~

I took a picture of my newest gum ball machine.. it’s painted robin’s egg blue, which now matches my new 3 tiered plate set.  I had my friends over at A Vintage Vault paint both pieces for me.  They actually put together the plate set to sell, but I asked them to paint it blue then I would buy it.  What service~  Anytime you find something in their store that you love.. but you don’t love the color let them know.  The owners Ed and Julie are awesome and really take care of their customers.

The other photo is this week’s giveaway.  Just a few of my favorite things.   I am giving away a set of Tim Holtz Shabby buttons, a perfect cleaning cloth, The Rubber Cafe’s Sheer glue, Tim Holtz Ruler binding set, Color magic notes by Heidi Swapp, a mini sample of misc. items and a pad of 6×6 paper from Three Bugs in a Rug.

Just leave me a comment letting me know if you are a garbage picker~  or do you want to be??  lol

Last weeks winner is Paula.. please contact me w/ your address so I can send you your goodies.

Next week I will announce the winner and do my big giveaway for my 5 1/2 year anniversary.. thanks for stopping by.
