Genuinely Jane Studios Project #2

Here is a simple project taking one of the Genuinely Jane Studios 4×4 mini wood books and making them into coasters.  I used some of my favorite brightly colored Martha Stewart paints and gave everything a fun color.  I then added some papers, stickers, and a few simple embellishments.  What a super fun and easy project.  The wooden box with the handle can be found at any Michael’s Craft store that has a wood section.

Do you like this wooden mini album?  What would you do with it?  If you like to alter wood projects check out the Genuinely Jane Studio’s pages for more info, to purchase books, or to see what other fun things the design team has been up to.

Last but not least.. meet Kelly, my newest Design Team Member.

Meet Kelly Starsky!
I am inspired by the everyday.

It may be the funny things my children say (4 of them, 2 girls and 2 boys, ages 8, 10, 13, and 15). Such as wondering, why is that movie called “Dirty Dancing”? Do they get dirty and then dance?

It might be the funny things my dogs do (2 of them, 2 boys, ages 2 and 7). Such as “fetching” a back-end of a dead bunny and dropping it at my feet while I sit in my scrap dungeon.

It might be my ugly bathroom tile. Or my husband’s bike. Or the Indian corn-growing in the garden. Or the pattern in my shower curtain. Or the method that I use to fold boxes. Or a photo of a frog climbing up my garage. Or my “new to me” mini-van. Or the words to a song. Or my son’s cheesehead hat (yes, I live in Wisconsin).

It might be a little creativity added to photography, mixed with painting, tossed with beads, sprinkled with bling. Occasionally sewing (straight lines only). Never knitting. Sometimes there is a small spoonful of desperation and procrastination mixed in too. My style? I describe it as “a little bit of everything.”

Being a mom to 4, wife to 1, dog-mom to 2, pediatric physical therapist, artist, pathological picture-taker, Girl Scout troop leader, painter, cook/baker, and Sunday school teacher means I am busy (or crazy, or maybe a little of both).

Scrapbooking (and all of my artsy passions) let me bring all of these layers of my life together. And then, I have a reason to escape to my craft dungeon too.

You can see my artsy escapades at my blog, She’s the Crafty Neighbor

Kelly is also  a member of the Design Team for Chicagoland Scrapbooker.

Meet Ula, from France! (another new 2013 design team member)

My name is Ula Phelep and I am the author of the blog Sen Mai (http://www.senmail.pl). I am a Polish girl who’s living in France, in a beautiful city of Nantes, for 10 years now (because of love of course!). I am 34 years old, and mom of two crazy kiddos: Maïa and Milosz.

I discovered scrapbooking 7 years ago when I was in pregnant with my first child. When looking for some beautiful way to expose the future photos of my baby, I found some “scrapbooking” blogs. I felt in love immediately! Since that moment I create my original layouts with a lot of paintings, colourful papers as well as with a huge passion. My style is a little messy, very creative (I love being inspired by the art and design) and I think it’s modern. I love trying new things, forms and colours in scrapbooking!

I used to work with the Polish brand of scrapbooking papers I Lowe Scrap and create for the Polish challenge blog Art Piaskownica.

Apart from creating things I like photography, painting and creating DIYs to my blog. I love making DIY projects, as well as decorating my new home in Nantes. My husband is always impressed by the mess after I create something or after I scrapbook. However it is normal isn’t it? ;)

Meet Linda Barutha, a mixed media artist.

I want to introduce you to another Design Team Member who will join us in 2013.   Another girl from Wisconsin that I was lucky to have met!

Linda Barutha, is a mixed media artist that loves to teach and explore new techniques. Linda is the owner of Live, Laugh, Love Retreats which hosts artistic retreats throughout the midwest.   I started Live, Laugh, Love Retreats, LLC in 2005.  It started as a scrapbooking retreat business, which was hosted at the LLL Craft Barn in central Wisconsin.  As my creativity soared, so did LLL.  Hosting events at just one location seemed too limiting.  Plus, I wanted to offer more than just papercrafting.  So I continued to develop my artwork to the point that I can consider myself  a self-taught mixed media artist.  I design my own creations, teach and love to bring it all together at my retreats.

Linda is also the proud  owner of Linnie Blooms Shop & Create; a brick and mortar store in Mukwonago, WI.   A love of creating has evolved into a shop where artisans can display their wares and newbies can get their hands dirty and make something as well.  The shop features all different kinds of products that are handmade, up-cycled or repurposed.  We also teach all different kinds of classes in-house.  The creative juices are always flowing at Linnie Blooms!

Between Linda owning and running her two business’s I was really excited she had time to be on the Design Team.  I can’t wait to see how she incorporates her artistic style to our challenges.   Please visit Linda at her three websites.

Linnie Blooms Shop & Create

If you are living near Mukwonago Wisconsin you will want to check out her store, Linnie Blooms Shop & Create.   I met Linda while I was shopping in her store.  Her store is filled with displays of her own crafty creations, products for sale, and wonderful furniture and home decor pieces that are for sale too.  I can’t wait to take a class with her in 2013.  When I met Linda I told her I just loved her style and her store.  I think she may of thought I was kind of stalkerish.. when I asked her to create & design  a canvas purse I had just purchased.  Well she was kind enough to do so and here is my awesome purse. I just love it.. It’s hanging in my craft room right now.. I am afraid to use it~
