CHA ready or not!

Hello CHA!  (Craft & Hobby Association-Winter Conference & Trade Show)

CHA (pronounced C-H-A, not like cha-cha-cha) is like the best event  for crafters since all of your favorite manufacturers are there.  CHA is held twice a year, I have been to a few summer shows but this will be my first trip to the winter show.  The summer show is in Chicago and the Winter Show is in California.   Lucky me… I live in Wisconsin, so going to Anaheim, California for anything in January is awesome.
CHA is the  place to be for buyers, independent craft stores, on-line stores, bloggers/websites, and media looking for the newest and best  in crafting.  One of the perks of attending CHA is that you will also have a chance to meet some of your on-line crafting friends.  You will also meet many of the design team members, store owners, “celebrity” crafters (that you are obsessed with) and you will even make new friends.
Manufacturers bring their newest designs, designers are there giving you demos, the booths are amazing to look at, the amount of information is overwhelming, but worth it~  You stand and walk pretty much all day/night.  If you attend a workshop, seminar, or get in on a make n take.. that is pretty much the only time you sit.
I am going to seminars from 8:30 a.m to 9:00 p.m on Saturday, there is a small  break in there somewhere & I will go to 2 workshops somewhere in there too.. but I like to take in as many business related seminars as possible.    Sunday I will attend an event w/ EK Success,  be on the show room floor drooling over all the products I want, and meeting up with my friend Rina who is from California.   Good Times~ Monday will be another day of  planning out my upcoming classes, trying to decide what I want to buy, and meeting a few new people.  I also have a few more events to check out that day & plan to meet Tori Spelling in the afternoon.
Sounds like fun right?  Well I did leave out some good stuff but I want to save some surprises.  I will post pictures on my facebook page so make sure you follow  scrap it girl on facebook.   I will be back with a new post next week~

New Year’s Giveaway & 6 years ago…

Happy New Year!

Today I am working on my Bucket List, To Do list, and my New Year Resolutions list.  While thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2012 I started to think… how did I get where I am?

6 years ago I was a proud owner of my own Live Trivia  business, which I owned for 7 years.  I sold my business and then for 10 months I tried to figure out what I wanted to do next.  I knew I didn’t want to  go work for someone after owning my own business , so I had to start another business.   I knew that I wanted another job where I was working with  people all the time, sharing something that I loved doing, and being creative at the same time.  Hosting Trivia was so much fun, so my new job had to be fun too!   I also knew that my new business had to be something I could do no matter where I lived.

I had to think about what I enjoyed doing and how I could make it into a full-time job.  I was a mother, wife, and a scrapbooker.  That’s it, I love Scrapbooking!  Hello,  Scrap It Girl!  The name of my business made sense at the time since while owning my trivia business I was known as Trivia Girl, no one knew my real name.  I figured it worked for 7 years, I would try it again.

So here I am in 2012 starting my 5th year as Scrap It Girl.  I am doing what I love!  I am crafting everyday, designing for a few local stores, writing a few crafty articles for my favorite online site PaperCrafters Corner, and I am teaching all kinds of craft classes at 6 different locations.

So if you don’t mind I am a little excited for this New Year to get started! I have big plans for my 5th Year  and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.  Let’s start out with 4 giveaways in January, followed by some prizes in February when I return from the Winter CHA in California and I turn 40!  Oh my…

Here is the 1st giveaway for 2012.  All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what’s on your bucket list for 2012 and  subscribe to my posts, all you need is an email address.

Copic Certification Class Tomorrow

Finally… after wanting to take this class for so long the day has finally came.  Tomorrow my friend Cheryl and I get our certification.  We will be the only ones certified in our city.  I already have a few areas booked as to where I will eventually teach classes.  That’s after I get more practice in and know exactly what I am doing.  I am guessing sometime in October, I’ll be teaching at Hobby Lobby and our Local Museum.

After our class we are off to a reception at the CHA where we will be enjoying a cocktail or two, eating, and hanging with many familiar names and faces.  I may be speechless during this time, just trying to figure out who is who.  I am sure Cheryl will know many since she is a member of many design teams and guest designs on blogs.  Oh yeah, check out her blog. Cheryl’s Blog you may already be a member, if not be sure to add yourself to her blog.  She is very talented and her cards are beautiful.

Tuesday there are 5 of us leaving for the day at CHA… 4 wonderful women are joining me for the day.  I wanted to share this great experience with women who I truly appreciate having in my life, they also are friends of mine through and through.  I can’t wait to get some pictures of us this week.

Well I have a hair and nail appointment I gotta get ready for.
