CHA news

Good Times @ Summer CHA Days 1, 2, & 3.

I was really hoping to make this post yesterday-Friday so I could have posted about my Favorite Things Friday from CHA, but here I am a day late.  So I will just share a few of my favorite photos, I said a few!  I didn’t realize how many pictures I took between my phone and my camera.

Ok, first off, every time I go to CHA I say this was the best so far, but seriously this was the BEST CHA, well for me it was.  Attendance seemed to be down and the amount of booths was less than usual too, but I had a blast~

Day 1 Sunday July 15th  I took the 1st ever  Zutter Certification Class here is a photo of my work space and a class picture of the 13 certified instructors along w/ our teacher Jennifer Priest.

Day 2 Monday July 16th  During the day I went to a few seminars and attended the Innovations sneak peek.   The Moxxie “Very Merry UnBirthday” Party and the Chicagoland Scrapbooker Magazine launch party were Monday night.  During CHA one of my favorite things is hanging out w/ my CHA bestie Susan Mintmire from PaperCrafter’s Corner, we have such a great time, she is also my CHA room-mate.

Here is Laura Cox and me at the Chicagoland Scrapbooker Magazine Launch party.

Here is a photo from the Moxxie party.

Day 3 Tuesday July 17th  I had the pleasure to work at the Pink Paislee and Heidi Swapp booth for 8 1/2 hours.  What a blast that was.  I enjoyed every single minute of it.  Don’t worry I did place an order with Heidi Swapp and Pink Paislee!  I can’t wait to have their items in my shop and we will be using their products in class.  I will also be using their products at Hannah’s in Antioch too.. they also placed an order!

Heidi & Rebecca, taking time for a quick photo inside their insta-frame. This was a huge hit~

Color Shine by Heidi Swapp in 12 fabulous colors, just one of the many items I will be purchasing.

Here is Heidi Swapp adding her Tropicana Teal Color Shine to my brand new white Sketchers… AWESOME!

Seriously.. how cute is that~ I love my new shoes.. brand new white sketchers look great now. Don’t be jealous, you can do this soon! Thank you Heidi..

Well, that was just a sneak peek at what I did the 1st 3 days, come back tomorrow I will post a few photos from the last 2 days.  If you want more pictures I will be posting some more on my Facebook page.. are we friends yet?  Hope so, be back tomorrow~  HAVE A GREAT DAY!    Scrap It Girl, Kimberly

Favorite Things Friday “New Badges & Blinkies”

I hope everyone is having a Happy Friday!  It is warm and sunny and I am off to a great start to this Mother’s day weekend.  Do you remember what my last weeks favorite thing was?  It was Give-A-Ways.   Congrats to the  winner of my last weeks Favorite Things “Give-A-Way”   April W.  Please contact me so I can send you your winnings~

My favorite things Friday this week is adding new badges & blinkies to my “crafty resume”.  I don’t know if you are a fan of the badges and blinkies that you find all over the craft blogs, but I really do like to see what people have.  Sometimes I spot a badge that I have never seen before.   Those badges and blinkies are a  great way to find new sites and challenges.  The badges also tell you a lot about the person.  You can tell if they love to do challenges, enter give a ways, belong to design teams, or are just totally addicted crafters and do it all.   They are basically a form of a crafters resume.

For me, I don’t have time to enter challenges or blog hops.  I don’t even have time to enter give a ways or blog candy posts.  I think they are all great and I sometimes leave myself a sticky note reminding me to enter a specific challenge I find, but then, you know how it is, you get busy.   I do host a monthly challenge and I try to do at least one or two giveaways a month, but even those are time-consuming.   I really do want to join in on the on-line fun and challenges.. it is on my list of  “to do’s” for next month.

I was updating my resume a few weeks ago for  a new position I am starting and I took a peek at my “crafters resume” and realized I haven’t added anything to it in a while.  So I quickly decided to get to work.  I now have a few new badges that I can add.   Why do we get so excited to post a badge?  I don’t know, but I guess it’s like a crafters postage stamp indicating that we did and where they were.. what do you think it means?  Do you post your badges and blinkies?  Do you think they are just plain silly or do you think they are mainly displayed as “bragging rights”?  Be honest.. you can say what you really think.

I won’t bore you with the details but these are my recent badges that I will be adding to my resume and crafty resume pages.  It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does I feel like I should post them to my site.  If they didn’t mean anything, then I guess they wouldn’t make them.  Right?  Tell me what you think by leaving a comment.. I will send you a surprise package of goodies to the best comment~  I will post the best comment and winner during next Friday’s Favorite Thing post.

CHA ready or not!

Hello CHA!  (Craft & Hobby Association-Winter Conference & Trade Show)

CHA (pronounced C-H-A, not like cha-cha-cha) is like the best event  for crafters since all of your favorite manufacturers are there.  CHA is held twice a year, I have been to a few summer shows but this will be my first trip to the winter show.  The summer show is in Chicago and the Winter Show is in California.   Lucky me… I live in Wisconsin, so going to Anaheim, California for anything in January is awesome.
CHA is the  place to be for buyers, independent craft stores, on-line stores, bloggers/websites, and media looking for the newest and best  in crafting.  One of the perks of attending CHA is that you will also have a chance to meet some of your on-line crafting friends.  You will also meet many of the design team members, store owners, “celebrity” crafters (that you are obsessed with) and you will even make new friends.
Manufacturers bring their newest designs, designers are there giving you demos, the booths are amazing to look at, the amount of information is overwhelming, but worth it~  You stand and walk pretty much all day/night.  If you attend a workshop, seminar, or get in on a make n take.. that is pretty much the only time you sit.
I am going to seminars from 8:30 a.m to 9:00 p.m on Saturday, there is a small  break in there somewhere & I will go to 2 workshops somewhere in there too.. but I like to take in as many business related seminars as possible.    Sunday I will attend an event w/ EK Success,  be on the show room floor drooling over all the products I want, and meeting up with my friend Rina who is from California.   Good Times~ Monday will be another day of  planning out my upcoming classes, trying to decide what I want to buy, and meeting a few new people.  I also have a few more events to check out that day & plan to meet Tori Spelling in the afternoon.
Sounds like fun right?  Well I did leave out some good stuff but I want to save some surprises.  I will post pictures on my facebook page so make sure you follow  scrap it girl on facebook.   I will be back with a new post next week~
