Favorite Things Friday “New Badges & Blinkies”

Favorite Things Friday “New Badges & Blinkies”

I hope everyone is having a Happy Friday!  It is warm and sunny and I am off to a great start to this Mother’s day weekend.  Do you remember what my last weeks favorite thing was?  It was Give-A-Ways.   Congrats to the  winner of my last weeks Favorite Things “Give-A-Way”   April W.  Please contact me so I can send you your winnings~

My favorite things Friday this week is adding new badges & blinkies to my “crafty resume”.  I don’t know if you are a fan of the badges and blinkies that you find all over the craft blogs, but I really do like to see what people have.  Sometimes I spot a badge that I have never seen before.   Those badges and blinkies are a  great way to find new sites and challenges.  The badges also tell you a lot about the person.  You can tell if they love to do challenges, enter give a ways, belong to design teams, or are just totally addicted crafters and do it all.   They are basically a form of a crafters resume.

For me, I don’t have time to enter challenges or blog hops.  I don’t even have time to enter give a ways or blog candy posts.  I think they are all great and I sometimes leave myself a sticky note reminding me to enter a specific challenge I find, but then, you know how it is, you get busy.   I do host a monthly challenge and I try to do at least one or two giveaways a month, but even those are time-consuming.   I really do want to join in on the on-line fun and challenges.. it is on my list of  “to do’s” for next month.

I was updating my resume a few weeks ago for  a new position I am starting and I took a peek at my “crafters resume” and realized I haven’t added anything to it in a while.  So I quickly decided to get to work.  I now have a few new badges that I can add.   Why do we get so excited to post a badge?  I don’t know, but I guess it’s like a crafters postage stamp indicating that we did and where they were.. what do you think it means?  Do you post your badges and blinkies?  Do you think they are just plain silly or do you think they are mainly displayed as “bragging rights”?  Be honest.. you can say what you really think.

I won’t bore you with the details but these are my recent badges that I will be adding to my resume and crafty resume pages.  It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does I feel like I should post them to my site.  If they didn’t mean anything, then I guess they wouldn’t make them.  Right?  Tell me what you think by leaving a comment.. I will send you a surprise package of goodies to the best comment~  I will post the best comment and winner during next Friday’s Favorite Thing post.

It looks like you have an amazing craft resume and what fun to be able to attend a Tim Holtz class and graduate he is a wonderfully talented crafter. You must have some amazing talent to get featured on the pintrest list of mater crafters. I think it is very important to show others our talents and what we love and what inspires us to craft. Congrats on your great badges that you are able to display those are easy to obtain so you must be very good at what you do.

  2. I do get so excited when I get a badge or blinkie, I definitely display them. It’s acknowledgement for me, someone else has awarded me a prize because I did something good or they liked what I did and that makes me feel good, an atta boy, job well done, a little recognition which since we are being honest here coming from a mother of three and a 40 hour regular work week at the office the only place I get that feeling from is my blog and blinkies, sad to say I know but true.
